Reflections

This past Sunday we had a service to Commission our G.O. team of 27. During this service Darin discussed how our vision of missions has evolved. If you would like to check out the sermon, feel free to listen or down load it (right-click, save target as) here. You may also read the full collection of Darin's journal entries here.

Wow - day zero - I can imagine the level of excitement there as I am feeling it all the way down here in NC! I have prayed for you all this morning - especially Psalm 121 so I hope you are all feeling peace and blessings just rain on your souls. Would still love a list or if someone this afternoon can snap a pic or two of the team for my prayer journal and post it - that would be wonderful. Special hugs Courtney - we miss you but love that you are going off into God's mission field. God bless you all, grammy duncan

Wow, we are really leaving very soon! =)

Thank you so much Grammy Duncan for all of your prayers. It's nice to have prayer warriors thinking of us. We will take great care of Courtney! She is such a sweetheart, and it's been great getting to know her better!

Denise, Jaime, and Stephie- We are going to miss you all so much. I already announced that this year was my last year, but if you all go next year, that might have to change. =)

I pray that you all have a blessed trip. I had no idea how hard it would be to say good bye today. I have more sympathy now than I did for those waving goodbye through tears.

Jesse, I love you.

Wow Sallie, What an experience for you to be part of. Follow your heart, for it has always been true in spirit. Don't forget to draw, you are as beautiful an artist as you are inside. Our prayers and blessings are with you and your group family in Africa!
Love, Mom and Dad

Courtney-since the Blake and Kaylie are at swim meet tonight I have Noah. Somehow we took a moment to pray and of course "CoCo" was first on our list! For 15 minutes he came to my lap and said "paa", climbed up, took my hands, and we prayed together - cool!

Amanda - I just glanced at your blogger page - you are beautiful! I love how you said you try to follow Jesus and sometimes fail - we all do. This morning as I prayed for the team I opened to Psalm 119:5-8 in part "Oh that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!....I will obey your decrees so do not utterly forsake me." Praise God for His Mercy and Grace and Love - all of which are following the whole team on this awesome journey to Namibia and life! God bless you all.

Stephanie M. We, Molly, Christina and Mom googled your trip. It is 11,755.45 miles or 18,918.57 kilometers as Grandfather would say. (Jackie boy). The send off was exciting and Bob Barnsley saw the bus leaving the church and waved goodbye. The whole team is in our prayers as your are off on your adventure. We miss you already. Love all of us.

Jan - We are all thinking of you, praying for you, and missing you. We feel God will lead you to wondrous things - for you, the team, and the people you minister to. We love you, Scott, Jen, Timmy, and Amanda.

P.S. The girls miss you too.

Steph M. Saw no email from City Year. Are we waiting for it to come or is it supposed to already be here? Dad is pretending that he is not upset that he was not mentioned in the last comment. We picked out Kevin's Senior pictures this afternoon. Hope you got some sleep while you travelled.

Ginger and Grant - What a blessing you both are to us and the people you will touch. We will say a prayer for you each night. Grant, if times get tough, sing the Guide song to yourself. Teach it to Mom and God will give you the strength to overcome.
Love Dad, Grace, Burdick and Margaret

Wow - things are different here (in Dubai) and yet very much the same. There is a Dunkin Donuts just down the hall! We have been awake almost a day and a half - with a few catnaps. We have one more long flight before we get to Namibia. Thank you for your prayers and thank you so, so much for all the help packing and getting out the door. We love you. Ginger and Grant
