Jesse, I'd like to go to the post office in the morning if I can...

Yea, I'd like to get the bat out of my room...

Bat extraction was a success... no bats were harmed in the creation of this post... although he did run into the screen many times, he was still able to fly out on his own accord.

Hey guys,

Just saw the new pictures and love them! It's so good to see Darin and Katie smiling and having fun! I love the one with all the people lined up on the sand. We're also glad to see Raymond in some pictures. Is that Nan's dog? And what the heck is Mike doing in that picture?

Church service went great today. Missed having a call from you guys. I think we're spoiled from past years when you've been able to do that. We sang "Only You" because that's one of the songs you guys have been sharing around the fire.

Darin and Katie, I miss and love you guys more than words can say. Enjoy the Etosha debrief. Five more days!

HI Melissa! We are finally home from VT. I miss VT but I think I missed my computer more. Nini and Buppa have been calling me in VT to keep me updated on all of your projects and accomplishments. Buppa called me this a.m. and told me I HAD to get to a computer to check out all the new photos of your team. I just now sat down with Derky to look at all of your photos. needless to say, I am in tears all over again! You are so beautiful, and look so cute holding and snuggling all the kids. (told Derek I want to adopt the little one you were holding!) BTW, no bringing home any children in your luggage! :) if we can help, ever, we will do it through legal means! :) I am beaming with pride for you and your team and am overwhelmed at the idea of the experiences you will have to share and remember forever! Everyone on the mountain said how proud they were of you and how envious they were that you could be part of such an enriching experience at such a young age. only 5 days left. I know you are probably wishing the time goes by slow, I don't blame you. Now that I am home and can walk through your bedroom and "feel" you I miss you like you wouldn't believe.
All ended well in VT. sad to close up camp for a week or so, but happy to come home and wait for you. Katie was up and around today, and much less sore than we thought. Uncle Ricky leaves for Ft. Hood tomorrow, we had a BBQ for him at Overbeck's tonight. everyone asked for you.
Pray for your brother. not able to go back to camp. he tried his hardest to be "independent" but he still really needs a 1:1 aid and camp isn't able to provide this for him for the last 2 sessions, so they said he couldn't return. he is very upset and really just doesn't understand. otherwise, he did well in VT, and learned alot of cool things and did "man" stuff with Derky. ok...this is getting long. I pray for you endlessly and clearly you are fine. I hope you enjoy your week. write again tomorrow. Love ya, MEAN IT xoxox Mom and Derk

LLama, (Melissa)
I can't believe I forgot to write this in the last blog.... you need to come home from Africa immediately! I read in the VT newspaper today that there are "llamas for sale, must find loving home for our llamas, we are moving" LOL LOL LOL LOL Please come home, I CANNOT tend to the llamas without you!
sorry, couldn't resist. don't hate me.
Mamma

maybe I am just clueless... but what in the world does asking to go to the post office have to do with a bat? Sounds like an adventure.

G, "Either it's a big scary spider or a little scary scorpion." I think I'm glad I didn't run into a bat!

Jesse, I love you. I'm counting down. I spent the whole day with your family today. it was really nice. Wait til you see the pictures of Mike's trip. MWA!

G, I get it now that I checked your flickr. Very funny and typical Jesse the punk comment. I kinda miss those comments! :) Thanks for keeping the posts coming. I know we may not hear much once you head to the debrief.

Katie:

Great job on putting all the updates together... love the shots of the Namibians kids with you all. John seems to have found a little friend... is that the one he loaned his iPod to? I also saw him cooking.. which he does... Next trip here... he can make his "Chicken ParmeJohn" for the Shaws. God Bless... Stay Well... Uncle Mike.

John:

Looks like a day at the beach was fun...Your Mom said you called... Sorry I missed it. You are going to stay in NH a couple days to see Sister Hazel... cool.. If Chris has worked it right... you and he might be opening for Edwin McCane. Your Mom wasn't able to talk to him today at church.. BUT ..just keep praying. Work out your new flight info and be sure to get it here so someone knows when to pick you up at OIA. See ya soon... Hey restrung all the electrics to 9's and acoustics to 10's... boy do they play easier.. JUST KIDDING AGAIN.. My fingers are sore playing the Ovation with those base cables on it.. See you soon.. Dad.

Ugh! I'd totally faint if there's a bat flying around!
